Compression Therapy

Compression Therapy (Aka Vasopneumatic Compression) has been shown to provide multiple health benefits. Intermittent pneumatic compression has been shown to reduce waste products, improve blood flow and circulation, and reduce risk of injury and delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Research has shown that regular intervals of compression therapy, as little as 15 min per day, reduces lactic acid formation, boosts oxygen distribution and significantly accelerates recovery times. Additionally, scientific studies have also explored the benefits of regular compressive therapy on lymphatic drainage, venous return, and peripheral neuropathy.

Recent case studies have found that intermittent pneumatic compression may be a plausible and effective treatment for improving foot sensation in those with both Diabetic neuropathy, and post chemotherapy drugs, as well as improving static and dynamic balance control.

These findings indicate that compressive therapy, such as the Air Relax Compression system offered at Base Camp PT, can be a safe and effective intervention that can provide countless benefits for a wide range of clientelle.
